When a child has proven himself at home in his/her sport, trained hard and you know they can be a top performer, what do we, as parents and coaches, do to help the child struggling with the anxiety of the "big event".
My son is young, had won many events, raced the best kids in the country, but his desire to win, to be the best has him so afraid to lose that he has "panic" attacks before the event. Later, he suffers internally because he's mad at himself for not doing his best or failing to try. Has anyone experienced this with a younger child and how do you get them past this???
