Field Hockey: a game played on a turf field between two teams of 11 players, whose object is to direct a ball into the opponent's goal with a hockey stick.
Field hockey is a popular sport for men, women, and children internationally, however, in the United States, it is generally regarded as a women's sport and females are the predominant players. Field hockey is an Olympic sport and the International Hockey Federation (FIH) is the governing organization for the sport.
Field hockey is exciting to play, and there are many camps around the country that teach children the game and develop their skills. Field hockey is both an interscholastic sport and collegiate sport. Before you sign your children up, make sure they have the proper protective gear, especially mouth guards as mouth injuries are common in this sport.
MomsTeam's goal is to provide comprehensive information on field hockey: advice on the equipment needed and how to buy it, a primer on the rules of the sport, and videos and advice from experts, parents, and manufacturers of field hockey gear.
But to do that we are going to need your help. If you are a parent of a child who plays or has played field hockey, we hope you will share what you have learned with other MomsTeam parents. Please consider writing a blog, contributing an article, posting on and/or hosting a Forum, or becoming a field hockey expert. If you know of someone who used to play or coach field hockey who has knowledge to share, ask him or her to join. Together we can make MomsTeam a true community of sports parents!
