- Dr. Bruce Thomas is a specialist in Primary Care Sports Medicine. His expertise is in the non-operative care of musculoskeletal problems, ranging from the youth gymnast to the elite professional athlete to those patients of any age simply wanting to remain active. Since 2007, Dr. Thomas has been the Medical Director of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA), providing medical coverage for LPGA Tour events as well as directing the care of these women athletes worldwide. He also serves as a medical consultant to the Golf Channel. Dr. Thomas is currently a Senior Medical Consultant for the Washington Nationals, following a four year stint as the Head Team Physician of the Nationals/Montreal Expos. Prior to that time he was a member of the medical staff of the Florida Marlins for nine years. His care earned him a World Series ring with the Marlins in 1997. Dr. Thomas served as team physician for the Olympic baseball team for the People's Republic of China at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. He was physician for the 1996 Australian Olympic Baseball team, the 1997 USA Baseball Team, and also for the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classic games held in Japan. Dr. Thomas is a member of the United States Olympics medical staff and, as part of the medical team for USA Wrestling has traveled around the world to such places as Ukraine and Siberia. A member of the Milwaukee Brewers (MLB) Medical Staff, Dr. Thomas has served for many years as team physician for the Brevard County Manatees, a Brewers' affiliate team located near his Florida home. He is also physician to several local colleges and high schools, lectures extensively about sports medicine topics, including in Havana, Cuba in 2007. Dr. Thomas is Assistant Professor on the faculty of the Florida State University School of Medicine and the University Of Central Florida School Of Medicine. He also holds a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine. A graduate of Tulane University (undergraduate and medical school), Dr. Thomas lettered as a pitcher on the baseball team. After his medical training, he served as the United States Air Force physician to all launch operations personnel at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station/Patrick Air Force Base.
